The UK Astronomy photo competition is now an ANNUAL event, but still completely free to enter. The idea is to get you out looking up, trying different things,
learning and having fun. The competition will be open to entrants in the United Kingdom in November every year. Only one photo entry per person is permitted.
There are twelve different categories in total. In our 2024 competition, they are :
• The Moon
• Nebula
• Free 4 All
• Clusters and Stars
• The Sun
• Constellations
• Aurora
• Comets & Meteors
• Planets
• The Milky Way
• Smart Phones Only
• International Space Station (ISS)
Each category is chosen to make it more fun and so there's something for everyone from the professional to the amateur to enjoy! Entry will be by completing an
entry form at the bottom of this page, which will be made available when the competition goes live. Once approved, your photo will then appear in our competition gallery.
Our panel of team members will then select 12 winning photos. Winners will receive a UK Astronomy calender with their photo featured on
one of the months for the next year, more info to follow nearer the time.

The winner of each category will win a UK Astronomy calendar with their image printed on the category they won after the year is up. |

Winning photographs will also be featured on our website. |
The UK Astronomy photo competition is open to UK residents only. We cannot accept any entries from persons living outside of the United Kingdom. |

The competition is open to ALL amateur and professional photographers. |
|
Photographs must be the original work of the entrant. |
|
Competition entries will be accepted from 1st November until the closing date on 30th November of each year. |

You may submit only one photo entry for the competition year, so choose wisely. |
|
Competition entry submissions must be made using the online entry form at the bottom of this page. |

Photos should be submitted to the particular category they relate to, or as close to it as possible. Entries that do not fit or that do not closely relate to the category selected on the competition entry form will be rejected. |

Entries must be of a high resolution and between 150KB and 15MB - and must be suitable to be digitally printed. If your entry does not meet this criteria, we may reject your entry and request that you submit a higher resolution version of your photo. |

Competition winners will be notified at end of the year. Prizes should be sent to the winners in January the following year. |

Copyright of all photo entries will remain with the photographer. However, all participants grant UK Astronomy the right to use submitted photographs and give express permission to exhibit and / or use them in publicity material for the purpose of promoting UK Astronomy and / or its photography competition. All participants additionally grant UK Astronomy the right to edit or use any submitted images in combination with others. |

Once you have agreed to these terms and submitted your photo into the competition, your granted express permission for UK Astronomy to use your photo entries cannot be revoked. |

With the exception of the 'space selfies' category, all photo entries must not feature any identifiable people. |

Winners will be chosen by UK Astronomy judges. The judges decision is final. |

Competition entries that do not conform to these Terms and Conditions will be rejected. |
